SANTA CLARA, CA – December 18, 2018 – Hedvig, the company modernizing storage and accelerating enterprise adoption of private and hybrid clouds, today announced that their Hedvig Distributed Storage Platform 3.8 has been recognized as a Trust Award finalist in the Best Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Solution category for the 2019 SC Awards. The finalists and winners for the Trust Awards are chosen by an expert panel of judges with extensive knowledge and experience in the cybersecurity industry. Winners will be announced at the SC Awards ceremony on March 5, 2019 in San Francisco.

The Hedvig Distributed Storage Platform is a software-defined storage platform that enables customers to store and protect virtualized, containerized, and backup workloads from a single platform. Hedvig’s backup target for any backup application offers significantly lower costs, and can be deployed on-premises as well as cloud, enabling private cloud and hybrid cloud backup solutions. Hedvig virtualizes and aggregates flash and spinning disks residing in a server or cloud. Organizations can spin up storage in seconds via a GUI, CLI, or REST API. Policy and provisioning processes that normally take hours, days, or weeks now take a few clicks and can even be performed from mobile devices. Hedvig provides instantaneous provisioning and automated management so companies can collapse monolithic, disparate storage solutions into a single, modern platform, making it easy to streamline and automate provisioning. Hedvig also enables integration with VMware, Docker, and OpenStack with a variety of modules and plugins.

“It is fulfilling to be recognized as a finalist in the competitive SC Awards,” said Avinash Lakshman, CEO and founder of Hedvig. “We will continue to innovate our data management capabilities and provide complete freedom of choice in backup software as our customers continue to embark on the journey to modernize their secondary storage environments.”

“Every new year brings with it an unpredictable mix of adversity and opportunity for information security professionals,” said Illena Armstrong, VP, editorial, SC Media. “In 2018, we watched as ransomware took down entire city governments, popular online platforms were accused of mishandling user data, and technology giants announced an unprecedented industry-wide effort to solve the Spectre and Meltdown CPU vulnerabilities. Through it all, this year’s SC Awards finalists found ways to break boundaries, overcome challenges and contribute fresh new ideas to the world of cybersecurity.”

Now in its 22nd year, SC Awards is recognized as the industry gold standard of accomplishment for cybersecurity professionals, products and services. With the awards, SC Media recognizes the achievements of cybersecurity professionals in the field, the innovations happening in the vendor and service provider communities, and the vigilant work of government, commercial and nonprofit entities. Vendors and service providers who offer a product and/or service for the commercial, government, educational, nonprofit or other industries are eligible for the SC Awards’ Trust Award category.

“Finalists for the Trust awards are selected by a panel of more than 60 judges and the SC Magazine product reviews team,” added Illena Armstrong of SC Media. “It’s a high bar to clear and we are proud to acknowledge Hedvig as a finalist.”

The SC Awards gala honoring the winners attracts top professionals in the cybersecurity community and provides an invaluable opportunity for networking. To register for the 2019 SC Awards gala, please visit https://scawards2019.splashthat.com/.
